In 2018, Desa Mentari will commence free classes for kindergarten children who are unable to afford the fees of private kindergartens. Recyclothes' sales proceeds will be channeled to cover costs of teachers’ remuneration, children’s food, books, utilities and other resources.

 

Part of the proceeds will also be used to erect a micro-financing programme for the residents of Desa Mentari.

Desa Mentari comprises 13 low-cost flats in a densely populated urban poor area near Old Klang Road (PJS 6). Most of the 25,000 residents there (many previously squatters from nearby areas) are Indians and Malays with some migrant workers. (Photo slide found left/below)
